This system is, in modern terms, an algorithmic poetry generator\u2014a fully deterministic procedure so clearly defined that it can even be performed, as Peter observes, \u201cby <i>he<\/i> that cannot <i>Write<\/i> or <i>Read<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Below is an interactive simulation of this 350-year-old procedure.
